Manchester City’s title chances have been assessed by midfielder Rodri and manager Pep Guardiola after a disappointing 1-1 draw with West Ham on Saturday night.

The Blues were held to a second successive draw in the league run-in as their title hopes took another decisive hit as Konstantinos Mavropanos’ well-taken header canceled out Bernardo Silva‘s sensational opener to salvage a 1-1 draw for the Hammers at the London Stadium.

City’s latest setback means Arsenal have raced nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table after avoiding a late scare against Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening – with goals from Viktor Gyökeres and history-maker Max Dowman taking the Gunners a giant step closer to a first league title in 22 years.

Guardiola’s side kicked off in east London 30 minutes after Arsenal’s late win at home but Manchester City have all but surrendered the Premier League title to the north Londoners, who have destiny in their own hands as they look to see out the final months of the title race with a healthy lead at the top of the three.

How does Rodri assess Manchester City’s title chances?

City midfielder Rodri gave an honest verdict of his side’s bleak chances in the title race after their 1-1 draw with West Ham on Saturday night.

In conversation with official Manchester City media, the Spain international said: Maybe (the Premier League title race is over) yes, maybe no. We’re not going to drop hands, we’re going to keep fighting.

“We know it’s going to be difficult because we have this experience of what you need to win. I think the distance is too far but we’re going to fight until the end. Now is a moment of no regrets.”

Rodri will be instructing his teammates to quickly move on from their woes in the south and give everything they have in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 return leg against Real Madrid next week, with City eyeing a miraculous comeback to overturn a three-goal deficit from the Santiago Bernabeu to progress to the quarter-final.

How does Pep Guardiola rate Manchester City’s chances of usurping Arsenal in the title race?

Guardiola watched on from the stands at the London Stadium as the Catalan served the first of a two-game touchline ban after picking up his sixth domestic yellow card of the 2025-26 season in the FA Cup against Newcastle United last week.

In a post-match interview with TNT Sports, the 55-year-old claimed that the title race is not over for Manchester City because “we didn’t lose” against West Ham on Saturday night.

“We will continue,” the City boss said. “We have an incredible team, spirit – and we fought after an incredible amount of effort in Madrid. We are an incredible team. We played so good, and until the end we’ll continue.

“We have one game in hand (over Arsenal); we have the game at home (against Arsenal) so we have to try it until the end. When it’s not possible, we’ll congratulate the champions but we have to try.”

The fixture schedule does not get any easier for the Blues as they prepare to take on Real Madrid in their European second leg next week before facing off against Arsenal (Carabao Cup final), Liverpool (FA Cup quarter-final), Chelsea (Premier League) and Arsenal (Premier League) in the next month.
