Rodri has apologised to Valencia captain José Luis Gayà after his disparaging comments about Valencia CF were made public. He phoned Gayà to explain the context and asked that his message be shared with the dressing room, according to Superdeporte.

Gayà and Rodri know each other from Spain duty, having shared the Qatar 2022 call-up. El Partidazo de la COPE stated that, if Barcelona do not prevent it, Rodri wants to speak to the media so that his apology is delivered publicly.
