According to O Jogo, Porto and Roma are in advanced talks over Rodrigo Mora, with a structure that could take the package beyond 50 million euros.
Porto have proposed a 10 million euros loan fee and a 40 million euros purchase option, which could rise with add-ons, plus a percentage of any future sale.
The option could become mandatory if Mora reaches a set proportion of matches or minutes and if Roma qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Roma’s 25 million euros offer for 50 per cent of his economic rights was rejected, with Porto intent on keeping the possibility of a larger overall return.
The high loan fee is intended to offset the risk of no permanent deal being completed at the end of next season.
Once an agreement is signed, which could happen today, three outcomes are possible. One is a compulsory purchase under the proposed terms, including performance-related sums and a sell-on. Another is Roma choosing to buy without those triggers, otherwise Porto keep the loan fee and Mora returns next season.
