Rodrigo Rêgo has said goodbye to Benfica as he heads to Premier League side Brighton, the division's eighth-placed team, according to Glorioso 1904.
The 21-year-old wrote on social media that his senior debut for Benfica was unforgettable and the fulfilment of a long-held dream.
He recalled stepping into the dressing room and hearing the stadium swell before kick-off, describing a mix of anxiety, pride and determination. He added that once he crossed the white line everything seemed to speed up, from the crowd noise to the teams lining up and the rush of adrenaline.
Rêgo said every touch, run and decision felt like the payoff for years of work, training, sacrifice and passion. Representing Benfica on the pitch, he noted, was a huge honour.
With the move to England, he begins a new chapter in English football after realising the dream of playing for Benfica's first team. His heartfelt message struck a chord with the club's supporters.
