Brazilian forward Rodrygo has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, ruling him out for the rest of the season and the 2026 World Cup.
According to SuperDepor.com, tests at Ciudad Real Madrid confirmed a complete ACL tear, with surgery planned in the coming days and rehabilitation expected to last around six months.
The incident happened in Real Madrid’s last league match against Getafe, shortly after he came on, when he fell near the touchline and his right knee caught in the turf.
He completed the game, but visible pain concerned the coaching staff, and pessimism from the initial dressing-room examination was later borne out by imaging.
The injury is a severe sporting blow for both Real Madrid and Brazil.
For Real Madrid, the absence comes at a critical moment, with two consecutive La Liga defeats and Kylian Mbappé also sidelined. Head coach Álvaro Arbeloa must now reshape his attack for a decisive run of fixtures without one of his key forwards.
