Roger MartĂ­nez appears to be a doubt for AmĂ©rica’s game against Necaxa next Saturday.

The 27-year-old striker was on the end of some rough treatment during Thursday’s 0-0 draw at QuerĂ©taro.

It led manager Santiago Solari to make the following comment in the wake of the 2021 Apertura opener: “Roger is punished a lot, the great players who are prestigious in the league must be taken care of.”

ESPN reporter Cesar Cabellero tweeted about the situation following team training on Friday.

The Azucrema can ill afford to lose MartĂ­nez for their first home game of the fledgling season.

Las Águilas are already making do without attacking duo Henry Martín and Sebastiån Córdova who are away in Tokyo on Olympics duty with Mexico.
