Roma’s attack is the real sticking point ahead of the January transfer window.
After more than three months of the season, the established strikers have fallen short of expectations, forcing sporting director Frederic Massara to intervene and provide Gian Piero Gasperini with a center forward who can provide consistency and impact.
The situation is critical: Evan Ferguson, who arrived on loan from Brighton, has yet to find the net in a competitive match and is currently sidelined with a sprained ankle. Likewise, Artem Dovbyk, who scored just two goals in Serie A – against Verona and Parma – is sidelined with a torn rectus femoris tendon.
According to Matteo Moretto, among the profiles being monitored by the capital club is Franculino.
The striker and number 7 for Midtjylland, stands out, having already been a summer target for the Giallorossi.
The Portuguese’s performances have been top-notch and suggest an immediate impact: in the Superliga, he has scored four goals and three assists in 14 appearances, but it’s in Europe that he has impressed, scoring three goals in four Europa League appearances.
His excellent performances, however, have driven his price skyrocketing, significantly complicating the deal: Roma could have acquired him in the summer for around €18 million, whereas today they would require double that.
The negotiation is made even more difficult by the fierce competition: AC Milan are also highly interested in the player, and attempts from several Premier League clubs cannot be ruled out.
