Roma and Inter transfer spending compared as big Serie A clash looms

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma have spent slightly more than Cristian Chivu’s Inter over the last two years as Giallorossi and Nerazzurri prepare for Saturday’s big game at the Stadio Olimpico.

Inter and Roma are the only Serie A clubs that have won all four of their opening league games this season.

On Saturday, they’ll meet at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome in the big match of Serie A Round 5.

Both Gasperini and Chivu have started their second season at their respective clubs. Gazzetta reports that since the two coaches took over, Gasperini and Roma have made larger transfer investments compared to Chivu and Inter.

The pink paper reports that Roma have spent €211m since Gasp was appointed in the summer of 2025, while Inter have invested €186m in new signings.

Gazzetta clarifies that the figures include only the fixed transfer fees and exclude potential add-ons.

Inter won the domestic double in 2025-26, during Chivu’s first season with the Nerazzurri, bringing home the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia.

Roma, meanwhile, finished third and qualified for the Champions League for the first time since 2017-18.
