A return to Italy could be on the cards for Diego Coppola as some of Serie A’s heavyweights begin to circle. According to Quotidiano Sportivo, both Roma and Juventus have made formal enquiries to Brighton regarding the availability of the 21-year-old center-back ahead of the January window.
Coppola, who joined the Seagulls from Hellas Verona last summer for approximately €10 million, has struggled for consistent minutes in the Premier League. This lack of game time has alerted several Italian clubs, with Atalanta and Bologna also reported to have made initial contact to understand the feasibility of a deal. The player himself recently hinted at a move, noting the importance of playing regularly to secure a spot in Italy’s upcoming World Cup squad.
However, Brighton’s financial demands could prove to be a significant hurdle for his suitors. The English club is reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of €10-12 million to sanction a permanent sale, as they look to make a swift profit on the Italian international. While a loan with an option or obligation to buy is being discussed by the interested parties, Brighton’s preference remains a definitive transfer if they are to part with the defender mid-season.
