Il Corriere dello Sport claims that the Giallorossi have sent a €4.5m bid for the 21-year-old, who Daniele De Rossi has identified as an ideal backup to Angelino for the left-back position.

According to the report, Roma have already reached an agreement with the player’s entourage.

Il Tempo and Leggo are confident that the versatile defender will land in Rome this week to undergo medical tests and sign his contract with the Giallorossi.

Roma also need a new potential starter in the right-back position given that Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente have returned to Leeds United, while Karsdorp is not part of De Rossi’s plans and is currently training separately from the rest of the team.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, one of the primary options is Stade Rennais FC defender Assignon. Roma are on good terms with the French club having recently signed their midfielder Enzo Le Fée.

Assignon spent the second part of last season on loan at Burnley and although Roma have not sent a formal offer yet, they hope to get the deal done for €7m-8m.

New director Florent Ghisolfi, however, won’t send an offer until Karsdorp leaves or until Roma receive part of the transfer fee from Riccardo Calafiori’s transfer from Bologna to Arsenal.
