Artem Dovbyk turned 29 yesterday, an age that in football should be synonymous with sporting success.
For the Ukrainian striker, due to the physical problems he suffered last season, this isn’t the case. The former Girona player’s future, in fact, remains unclear.
The Giallorossi number 9 is preparing for the training camp in Trigoria, scheduled for July 13th, with no certainty about his role in Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma.
The question is: is Dovbyk still a technical asset, or is he a liability to be removed to free up space and fill it with another player?
Gasperini envisions a new, dynamic attacking lineup with players close to Malen and possessing different characteristics than Dovbyk.
As Corriere dello Sport reports, the transfer market is knocking on Trigoria’s door, with two Spanish clubs interested in the former Girona player: Real Betis and Villarreal.
Real Betis has conducted an exploratory survey, while Villarreal could make a move. The sale of Sorloth will be monitored. Roma’s number 9 is worth approximately €23 million, and any potential sale negotiations will need to take this into account.
The solution that could unlock the situation is a loan with an obligation or option to buy: it would be a solution capable of satisfying the financial needs of the Giallorossi club and potential buyers.
