Roma director confirms stance on Milan loanee Saelemaekers: “We are happy” | OneFootball

Since leaving AC Milan for AS Roma in the summer, Alexis Saelemaekers has had an up-and-down season. Since returning from injury, though, it has been largely up.

Throughout the summer, Saelemaekers was the subject of constant questions about his future, with Paulo Fonseca reportedly wanting to keep him around, whilst others saw him as a spot waiting to be taken.

But when he returned from injury for Roma, it showed that he was certainly more than able to play a role in this Milan team. The Belgian has been superb recently, and the Roman club have been persisting with the Rossoneri to allow him to stay.

In fact, talks have been going on for some time, with the Giallorossi even offering multiple players as a swap deal, and partnered with the fact that the winger wants to remain in Rome, things could align themselves if the club can offer the right fee.

Yesterday, speaking to DAZN, via Roma Press, the club’s director, Florent Ghisolfi, spoke about their target.

“Saelemaekers is happy in Rome and we are happy with him, we want to keep him.”
