Manchester United’s pursuit of Roma midfielder Manu Kone has yet to gather momentum, with the Serie A club growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of a concrete offer for the France international.

According to Corriere dello Sport, United continue to monitor the 25-year-old but have not submitted an official bid despite their long-standing interest. The report claims Roma are still waiting for negotiations to progress, with time becoming an increasingly important factor for the Italian club.

Roma are keen to complete player sales before 31 July in order to satisfy the conditions of their UEFA settlement agreement. Kone is regarded as one of the club’s most valuable assets, making his future one of the key issues they hope to resolve before the deadline.

Roma growing frustrated over Man Utd’s Kone pursuit

The midfielder is currently enjoying an extended break after representing France at the World Cup and is not due back until 10 August, following the club’s pre-season training camp in Wales.

United’s measured approach has reportedly left Roma disappointed, as they had hoped interest from the Premier League would translate into a formal proposal. While the Red Devils remain admirers of Kone, there is no indication that an offer is imminent, leaving the transfer in a state of uncertainty.

The former Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder joined Roma in 2024 and has established himself as an important figure in the heart of midfield. His performances have attracted attention from several clubs across Europe, although United are among the sides most frequently linked with a move during the current transfer window.

Roma, meanwhile, continue to reshape Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad ahead of the new season. Neil El Aynaoui is expected to return from his post-World Cup break before travelling with the squad to Wales, while left-back Anass Salah-Eddine is expected to remain in Rome as he searches for a new club.

For now, however, Kone’s future remains unresolved. Unless Manchester United accelerate negotiations in the coming days, Roma risk missing an important financial deadline, while the midfielder could return to Trigoria for pre-season as a Roma player.
