Roma are set to accelerate talks with Girona for Artem Dovbyk amidst Atletico Madrid interest.

According to a report by Francesco Balzani of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has begun to contact the agent of Artem Dovbyk to talk over a potential transfer this summer. Following the rejection of advances for Alexander Sorloth by Villarreal, the Italian capital side are now aiming to secure the Ukrainian striker from Girona.

Atletico Madrid were a few steps away from announcing the 27-year-old as their new signing but it seems that the club have reached an impasse over personal terms with the player’s agent. Roma and other clubs are looking to take advantage of this recent crisis and make their moves soon.

Girona had accepted a €40 million transfer fee for Dovbyk and they will want the same figure from any other interested club. With the signing of Matias Soule looking to be on the track, Roma will go for last season’s LaLiga top scorer in the next few days.
