Roma get green light for historic new stadium | OneFootball

The Serie A is slowly going into a new era of modernised stadiums, as several clubs have been drawing up plans to have new stadiums of their own. Roma have now taken a key step towards doing the same.

The club have released a statement about this, making it clear that important progress has been made and vital signatures have now been received for the construction.

The release says: “The conclusion of the decision-making Conference of Services, with the resulting declaration of public utility, marks a fundamental and historic step for AS Roma towards the construction of the new stadium.”

The club also thanked Roma Capitale, the UEFA Euro 2032 Commissioner for the Lazio Region and the Minister for Sport and Youth for the progress.

“AS Roma thanks Roma Capitale, the UEFA Euro 2032 Commissioner, the Lazio Region, the Minister for Sport and Youth, all the administrations and bodies involved, together with the professionals and collaborators who accompanied this journey with competence and responsibility.”

It is believed the new stadium – named as the Pietralata, will provide excellent employment opportunities to many and it would turn into a thriving hub for business and economy.

“A project conceived not only as a new home for the Club and its fans, but as an asset for Rome, capable of generating new opportunities, contributing to the redevelopment and development of the area, and producing lasting benefits for the entire city and its community.”

The exact timeline for the construction isn’t known yet but more should now be clear soon.
