Roma, aware that good opportunities are easily missed, are approaching the January transfer window with determination to find the center forward requested by Gian Piero Gasperini.

After pushing for Joshua Zirkzee, sporting director Frederic Massara is quietly pursuing Yuri Alberto.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Brazilian center forward from Corinthians, valued between €20 and €25 million, is the latest idea to emerge at Trigoria.

The interest is mutual: Roma has already met with the 24-year-old’s agents, and in Brazil they are confident the financial hurdle can be overcome.

Limited liquidity, UEFA Fair Play restrictions, and the uncertainty surrounding the club’s European future make an immediate major investment difficult.

To overcome these challenges, Massara is reportedly working on a deal that avoids an immediate purchase: a costly loan with a right/obligation to buy that would only be activated if the club finished fourth.

Corinthians, who have renewed the player’s contract until 2030, would only agree to the deal under these conditions.

The deal also presents a bureaucratic obstacle: Roma is currently assessing Yuri Alberto’s ability to obtain an Italian passport, essential given that the non-EU slots are occupied by the summer arrivals of Wesley and Bailey.
