Serie A teams, despite facing a difficult economic period and clearly struggling to compete financially with Europe’s top clubs, have nevertheless seen an increase in wages for the 2025/26 season.
According to data reported by Calcio e Finanza, the aggregate gross salaries of all players in the Italian top flight rose to €1.1 billion, a 3.8% increase compared to the 2024/25 season, when the total amount stood at €1.06 billion.
This figure highlights how, despite financial constraints, Italian clubs continue to invest in their players.
Roma, along with four other clubs, are among the select few clubs that have spent more than €100 million on player wages.
For the 2025/26 season, Roma has planned to invest €107.5 million in player salaries alone, a 22.3% increase over the previous year.
In percentage terms, Roma ranks third among clubs with the highest cost growth, behind Napoli (+30.7%) and Como (+25.4%), and ahead of Juventus, which increased its wage bill by 12.6%.
Inter and Milan, however, remained essentially stable, with decreases of 0.7% and 0.6% respectively, demonstrating a more prudent cost management strategy.
