La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Roma are interested in Napoli winger Matteo Politano.
Roma are looking to strengthen their attacking department this summer, and according to Gazzetta, Napoli winger Politano is among the Giallorossi’s targets.
Daniele De Rossi is an admirer of the 30-year-old and has already worked with the Napoli winger as Roberto Mancini’s assistant with the Italian national team.
The report claims Roma will be listening to offers for Nicola Zalewski so his exit would pave the way for the signature of Politano.
Gazzetta says that talks between the Giallorossi and Politano’s agents have not begun yet, but Roma’s genuine interest suggests that negotiations may start soon.
Politano is a product of the Roma academy and came close to returning to the Stadio Olimpico in January 2020 in a swap deal with Inter involving Leonardo Spinazzola.
The deal eventually collapsed because the Nerazzurri were not convinced about the defender’s fitness, but Roma will likely make a new attempt for Politano in the coming weeks.
Politano scored nine goals and provided ten assists in 48 appearances with Napoli in 2023-24 and his contract at the Stadio Maradona runs out in June 2027.
