Antonio Vergara suddenly took Napoli by storm from January to February.
Conte’s team, plagued by injuries, was struggling, and the Neapolitan coach gave the 2003-born player a chance, and he surprised everyone with his high-quality performances.
One of the very few youth products of the De Laurentiis era, Vergara has attracted the attention of several clubs, given that he also shone in the Champions League: a stunning goal against Chelsea in the final match of the group phase.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, three clubs in Italy have inquired about him, including Gasperini’s Roma.
Antonio Vergara ended his season with Napoli prematurely due to a muscle injury. His performances, however, surprised even Conte: 3 goals and 4 assists in 926 minutes.
These performances attracted the interest of Como and Atalanta in particular. Both clubs, in fact, are willing to invest €25 million in the attacking midfielder from Campania.
Roma has requested information to understand the potential scope for negotiations with Napoli.
The Neapolitans, in fact, are reluctant to sell Vergara: the club has received interest from three Italian clubs, but it is more likely that they will seek a contract renewal for the 2003-born player, who grew up in their youth system.
