Roma are continuing to hold talks for the signing of Kevin Danso from Lens.

The Austrian defender is currently the capital club’s priority to further strengthen their backline.

With only Mancini, Ndicka and Smalling listed as available centrebacks on the team, Daniele De Rossi would like one more defender at his disposal.

As a result of De Rossi’s request, Roma have set their sights on Danso.

The Lens centreback had been a target for Atalanta up until a week ago when the Bergamaschi decided to withdraw from the race.

In the meantime, Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport reports that Roma are holding talks with Lens and making progress.

The French side are asking for around 25 million euros – a significant fee for Roma.

It remains to be seen whether the Giallorossi will still be prepared to go through with it after Paulo Dybala’s decision to stay.

Dybala’s potential sale to Al Qadsiah could have helped expand Roma’s budget and facilitate Danso’s arrival, writes Di Marzio.
