Roma need Dybala and Pellegrini to take pay cut to extend contracts | OneFootball

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Roma’s financial goal is to reduce spending on wages to around 60% of revenues, so the Giallorossi need Paulo Dybala and Lorenzo Pellegrini to take pay cuts to extend their expiring contracts.

Dybala and Pellegrini’s Roma contracts expire in June and the Giallorossi need them to cut their wages to remain at the Olimpico beyond the summer.

Roma’s financial target revealed

Roma advisor Claudio Ranieri already confirmed earlier this week that the club’s objective for the upcoming season is to cut the wage bill.

According to Gazzetta, the target is to reduce spending on wages to around 60% of revenues.

According to the report, Pellegrini’s salary is close to €7m, including easy-achievable bonuses. Dybala, on the other hand, will earn €8.5m in his final year at the Olimpico, plus add-ons.

“It would be great to reach an agreement depending on what the pitch says and the club’s needs. Otherwise, we’ll part ways,” Ranieri said.

Celik and El Shaarawy are in a similar situation as their future at the Olimpico remains uncertain, with their contracts running out at the end of the season.

Based on the Gazzetta report, Celik’s extension seems unlikely at this stage as the Turkey international has demanded to double his €2m-a-year salary.

It’s still unclear whether Roma will offer El Shaarawy a new contract. The Italian earns €2.5m per season.

Roma, on the other hand, have reached agreements to extend the contracts of Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante, whose current deals run out in 2027.
