Roma Player Ratings vs Fiorentina: Self-Destructive Giallorossi Demolished in Tuscany | OneFootball

Free-scoring Fiorentina dismantled a disjointed Roma side 5-1 in Sunday’s one-sided Serie A encounter at Stadio Artemio Franchi. Raffaele Palladino’s men fired on all cylinders to inflict  the visitors’ first away league defeat this season.

Roma slumped to an awful start as Moise Kean fired Fiorentina 1-0 up nine minutes into the game after being left unmarked by Gianluca Mancini. It took the home team only eight minutes to double their lead, with Lucas Beltran converting the resulting penalty.

Summer signing Manu Kone offered Roma a way back into the match with a fantastic finish from the edge of the box toward the end of the first half. However, another lapse of concentration saw Kean tap the ball in from a yard out after being perfectly tied up by Edoardo Bove.

The Roma loanee poured more misery on under-fire manager Ivan Juric at the start of the second half. He made light work of several visiting defenders before slotting the ball beneath helpless Mile Svilar to make it 4-1, effectively putting the game to bed.

But that wasn’t the end of Roma’s catastrophe as Mats Hummels scored an unfortunate own goal four minutes after replacing Paulo Dybala to make up for Mario Hermoso’s sending-off. It could’ve been worse for Roma had Fiorentina seized their chances in the final minutes.

Mile Svilar – 3

Though his teammates frequently let him down tonight, the young goalkeeper could’ve and should’ve done better on several occasions.

Gianluca Mancini – 3

There’s no doubt this was his worst performance for Roma this season. He failed to recover from losing track of Kean for the opening goal, often looking up the creek without a paddle against the ex-Juventus star.

Evan Ndicka – 4

Had he not been at the heart of Juric’s defense tonight, Roma would’ve likely conceded more as he patched up the holes left by his defensive colleagues.

Mario Hermoso – 2

It’s unfathomable how a player of his class and experience can pick up two such needless bookings. Frustration probably got the better of him.

Zeki Celik – 2.5

What was he thinking making a tackle like that in an innocuous situation? Traditionally ineffective in the final third, he struggled in defense too.

Niccolo Pisilli – 5

Despite occasionally showing glimpses of his burgeoning talent, it wasn’t remotely enough for Roma to gain a foothold in the middle of the pitch tonight.

Bryan Cristante – 3

Juric made a tactical choice to pull him out midway through the first half as Roma chased a two-goal deficit, but he was useless before coming off anyway.

Angelino – 3

Like Cristante, the diminutive wingback paid the price for Fiorentina’s quick-fire start, leaving the field after showing nothing in the first 30 minutes.

Lorenzo Pellegrini – 4.5

It felt like his head was somewhere else. In addition to numerous uncharacteristic passing errors, the Italian playmaker spent large spells of the game as a bystander.

Paulo Dybala – 5.5

David de Gea’s phenomenal diving save thwarted his thumping free-kick in the second half. However, the Argentine was far from his usual best tonight.

Artem Dovbyk – 4

Another scoreless appearance was the least of his fault as other Roma players couldn’t create a single presentable scoring chance for their most prolific ace.
