Roma have always been highly optimistic about retaining Paulo Dybala, but the talks required quite a lot of work and time. The new contract has been ironed out and will be announced shortly, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

Despite some tension on the matter, La Joya has accepted a one-year deal with a team option for another campaign. Instead, the numbers had already been taken care of. The Argentine will pocket about €3M, plus bonuses tied to appearances and objectives. His salary will be slashed by more than half compared to 2025/2026.

In addition to the Dybala extension, Roma will also confirm the permanence of Zeki Celik. The fullback will have a comparable salary, bumping up his previous one, but the Giallorossi will continue to benefit from fiscal savings on it. Lorenzo Pellegrini is next on the docket. It’s not a done deal in his case yet, but the parties are close. He rejected a proposal from Besiktas.

Gian Piero Gasperini has always been a major proponent of re-upping with the attacker. He and his assistants will work more closely with the player’s staff to ensure he’ll make it through a more demanding season, factoring in the UEFA Champions League, and avoid the frequent injuries that plagued him in the last couple of years.

Our Take on Roma Keeping Dybala and Celik

It would have been tough to do better in the negotiation. His revised wages will better fit the part-time use he’ll inevitably have, given the schedule and his track record health-wise. As for the fullback, he’s been perfectly serviceable. They would definitely have preferred a lower salary, but they are having trouble finding one man on the wing, let alone two.
