Roma slash 26/27 wage bill by 14% | OneFootball

Roma, as stated by Tony D’Amico, has lowered its wage bill as requested by UEFA to send a positive message to European football’s governing body.

The Roman club is moving toward sustainability, while awaiting the outcome of sanctions for failing to fully comply with the settlement agreement.

At the start of last season, according to Calcio e Finanza, the Giallorossi club invested approximately €107.5 million gross in player salaries, ranking fourth in Serie A after Inter, Juventus, and Napoli. After a year, the cut was significant: the wage bill dropped to €92.7 million, excluding bonuses.

This figure bucks the trend compared to other Serie A clubs, given that the aggregate player salaries of the twenty clubs stand at approximately €1.209 billion, compared to €1.1 billion last season (this comparison should be interpreted with caution due to some differences in the reporting methodology).

Calcio e Finanza has estimated the gross wages of the 20 Serie A clubs and compiled a ranking. Roma, from fourth place last season, has fallen to fifth, behind Inter, Juventus, Napoli, and Milan.
