Sunday’s reports claim that Roma are interested and are likely to explore a potential deal with Genoa for Albert Gudmundsson, who is increasingly unlikely to join Fiorentina on a permanent basis despite spending the 2024-25 season on loan in Tuscany.

According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, Roma are on the lookout for new attacking reinforcements, and are keen on the idea of pinching Gudmundsson from Genoa after the end of his loan spell with Fiorentina.

As things stand, there has been no direct contact between Fiorentina and Genoa, but Sunday’s report claims that Florent Ghisolfi and his colleagues are currently discussing the feasibility of a potential deal.

Gudmundsson spent the 2024-25 season on loan with Fiorentina, who also have an option to buy.

La Viola spent a reported €8m to sign Gudmundsson on loan, and have an option to buy for a further €17m, which La Viola are not currently inclined to pay.

Genoa, meanwhile, value Gdmundsson in the region of €20m this summer, which could open up the possibility of his signing for another club instead.

Corriere dello Sport claims that Roma could look to negotiate a loan with option to buy themselves, and that they could look to include one of their own players moving in the other direction in order to lower the overall cost of a deal with Genoa.

Corriere dello Sport suggests that Eldor Shomurodov could be one of the players sacrificed if Roma decide to pursue a player exchange deal with Genoa.
