Roma is looking for a sporting director to replace Frederic Massara and accompany Gasperini in the summer campaign aimed at strengthening the squad.

In recent days, the Giallorossi club appears to have made a decision: the Friedkins have contacted Giovanni Manna.

Napoli’s current sporting director, however, is still under contract with the Neapolitan club for another three years, and it won’t be easy to end his experience prematurely.

Direct contact was made between Friedkin and Manna, who also met with Gasperini.

As Repubblica reports, the meeting was considered positive by both parties. Roma has also presented an offer to the director and is now waiting to see what the margins are for bringing him to the capital.

The main issue remains Napoli. The sporting director has a three-year contract remaining, which means negotiations will be necessary to release him. De Laurentiis, for now, is making no concessions: his asking price is €10 million.

A high price for a director; now it’s up to the Friedkins to decide whether to focus on other, less complicated targets or not.

Alternative options remain on the table: D’Amico, who has not yet been contacted, and Giuntoli, with whom discussions have taken place but who does not appear to have persuaded the owners.

The former Juventus sporting director, however, is a free agent, an aspect not to be underestimated.
