Alexis Saelemaekers’ start to life at Roma did not go as planned.

The Belgian winger was forced off the pitch in his second appearance for the Giallorossi after suffering a heavy blow to the ankle in the match against Genoa.

As reported by Radio Mana Mana Sport, Saelemaekers is suspected of having suffered a medial malleolus fracture which will require more time to heal.

It is yet unknown whether the fracture is displaced or nondisplaced.

However, it is likely that the player will have to undergo surgery in Belgium.

Other reports claim the recovery time could take up to 2 months.
