After the serious unrest that broke out before Sunday afternoon’s derby, culminating in 24 officers injured and two entire neighbourhoods set on fire, the Ministry of the Interior is ready to intervene decisively. As reported by Il Messaggero, we are going towards the indefinite stop for the night derbies at the Olimpico and the introduction of new, heavy sanctions against the fans of Roma and Lazio.
Minister Matteo Piantedosi defined what happened as “unworthy and unacceptable behaviour” and announced extraordinary measures to guarantee greater protection for law enforcement, which ended up in the crosshairs of organised gangs that have nothing to do with sporting passion.Among the hypotheses under study there are the stop to evening games considered at risk, the closing of the Curvas and the blocking of the away trips. Meanwhile, Digos continues the investigations: at the moment an arrest has been made, but other perpetrators have already been identified thanks to the videos and testimonies collected.
