Romagnoli agent: ‘Al-Sadd talks slowed down, but no future at Lazio’ | OneFootball

Alessio Romagnoli’s agent confirms the negotiations with Al-Sadd have ‘slowed down,’ but insists they ‘are not thinking about a future at Lazio’ despite resuming training.

The deal had seemingly been struck for around €3m over a month ago, after the two clubs had been on the verge of an agreement in January only for it to collapse before the deadline.

The weeks wore on and there was no official transfer, and yesterday Romagnoli resumed pre-season training with Gennaro Gattuso’s Lazio squad.

Romagnoli waiting for next step

“The negotiations slowed down, understandably, after the death of the ex-Emir and for reasons based around the war,” explained agent Vincenzo Raiola to Sport Mediaset.

“We are waiting for the Qatari minister to put a budget at the disposal of the clubs so they can reach agreements with other teams. The negotiations with Al-Sadd, consequently, are still open, even if the timing of a breakthrough is not entirely clear.”

Romagnoli is under contract with Lazio until June 2027, but the agent was eager to pour cold water over any hopes the defender could remain beyond a purely temporary stay.

“At the moment we are not thinking about a future at Lazio.”

The 31-year-old is a lifelong supporter of the Biancocelesti and joined them as a free agent from Milan in the summer of 2022.

He has made 161 competitive appearances for the club, with eight goals and two assists.
