Rafael Leao moving to Barcelona would not be unexpected, given the level of interest in him. However, the AC Milan star may have to stay put for a while.
As 2024 has passed, the chances of Leao departing from Milan have grown. Under Paulo Fonseca, there have been rumoured problems, and the winger has even asked his agents to look for a move away in January.
It seems this may not happen though, as the winger reaffirmed his love for Milan in a recent interview. Nevertheless, a departure could still be possible, if things align.
Barcelona remain an interested party, and it seems they will try to make a move in 2025, with a summer departure more likely for all parties. Given the winger would be ‘delighted’ to become a Barca player, the likelihood of a move also increases.
Earlier this week, Fabrizio Romano offered an update on the situation, discussing the thought process of the Blaugrana and the options being assessed, and his words have been relayed by Milan News 24.
“Barcelona already had the idea of getting a new winger in the summer. Nico Williams and Leao remain in Barça’s dreams, thoughts and internal discussions for 2025. More likely for the summer than in January. The plan for the summer remains this, to take a winger.”
