Chelsea this week wrapped up a deal to sign Mohamed Zongo, the star of the U17 World Cup, and we’ve been waiting for more information on the deal which was first announced by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The insider has now followed that up with another post, this time some chat on his Youtube channel.

Fabrizio Romano’s Tweet about Mohamed Zongo.
According to Romano, Chelsea really do believe that this guy is a level above even those other talents they’ve signed recently.
“He’s considered a huge, huge talent. Another huge English club wanted to sign Zongo, but it wasn’t possible because Chelsea won the race. There was also a top German club interested… Chelsea think this is a special signing, a special talent,” the transfer guru said on his channel.
“My understanding is that the contract is already signed for Zongo to be announced as a new BlueCo player… Zongo is seen as a special talent, not just a ‘profit player’.”
Romano puts Zongo in that category along with Deinner Ordonez, the Ecuador starlet whose signing was confirmed a month ago. Both won’t be able to come to Europe until January 2028, the first window after their 18th birthdays.
Zongo won’t be at Strasbourg until 2028 and Chelsea until maybe 2030, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. This is going to make the 18 month wait for Estevao feel short by comparison.
You can see Romano speaking in the clip embedded here:
Marc Casado is a player Chelsea have been looking at for some time if you believe the rumours, and the Blues are now considering a bid according to rumours online.
Marc Cucurella is being run into the ground right now because Enzo Maresca doesn’t trust Jorrel Hato. That’s not a sustainable situation.
