Manchester United chiefs will meet with Kobbie Mainoo, his agent and Ruben Amorim this afternoon to determine where his future lies beyond Monday’s transfer deadline.
It comes after speculation has grown rife this week suggesting the midfielder is ready to call time on his Red Devils tenure and that he could even pursue a move in the final days of the window.

Mainoo is said to be disgruntled over his lack of playing time already this campaign, having not featured for a single minute in the opening two fixtures of the term. Ruben Amorim evidently prefers the other midfielders in his ranks, such as Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Manuel Ugarte, over the 20-year-old.
Whilst other players in his age bracket may be accustomed to navigating more rotational roles, Mainoo himself has undoubtedly done enough to warrant a more prominent place in the manager’s rankings – just take a look at how quickly he was promoted to the England men’s team last year, to the point he made six appearances, including four starts, at Euro 2024.
Nonetheless, Amorim has doubts over whether the Carrington graduate is a suitable fit for his newly implemented system.
Mainoo has played in 28 games since the Portuguese coach succeeded Erik ten Hag last November, with 15 of those outings coming from the off.
In the aftermath of this morning’s reports verifying that the youngster is indeed mulling over an imminent exit, Fabrizio Romano claims United want to meet with all parties involved to find a swift resolution to the situation.
“Today, in the next hours, there will be a meeting to discuss the future of Kobbie Mainoo,” said Romano on Wednesday afternoon. “Soon, Manchester United, Kobbie Mainoo, his agent, all people involved in this story, including the coach… they will all talk to discuss the situation and make a decision on the future of the player.”
