Fabrizio Romano has delivered a firm guarantee that Milan will make a significant attacking signing this summer, describing it as one of the key priorities agreed between Ruben Amorim and the club’s leadership, and dismissing reports of Porto interest in Santiago Gimenez in the process.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, with quotes via MilanNews, Romano was unequivocal.

“I can say it with confidence, Milan will sign an important attacker,” he said.

“I expect them  to make a big signing up front. I’ll sign and underwrite this. It is one of the important things that Amorim and the Milan leadership have discussed.”

Porto deny Gimenez interest as Romano hints at Milan striker arrival forcing Mexican’s exit

On the specific speculation between Porto and Gimenez that had emerged from Mexico, Romano was equally clear.

“Porto deny it. President Villas-Boas and everyone involved at Porto are making clear they are not negotiating for Santi Gimenez,” he said. “Today Porto deny having made offers or having started negotiations.”

Romano did acknowledge that Gimenez’s situation will evolve once a new striker arrives.

“From Gimenez’s point of view, it is clear that if another attacker arrives, there will be movement on his exit,” he said. “But not to Porto at this moment.”

The identity of the Rossoneri’s main striker targets remains unclear, amid ongoing chaos in the club’s leadership, but Romano’s certainty about the club’s intentions suggests the groundwork has already been laid behind the scenes.
