Romelu Lukaku has returned to Naples after several weeks of hip rehabilitation in Belgium, taking part in an individual session on Tuesday.
His comeback followed a late April meeting at which the player, his agent and sporting director Giovanni Manna agreed the timing. The club said in a statement that he was back at the training centre and completed a solo workout.
The 32-year-old had chosen to remain in Belgium against the club’s wishes to treat a hip issue, a stance that sparked a dispute with the hierarchy. The injury also kept him out of Belgium’s mid March camp.
Relations have since cooled, and he is understood to have spoken with head coach Antonio Conte on his return.
Even so, it still seems unlikely Lukaku will feature in Napoli’s final three Serie A matches. Injuries have restricted him to just 60 minutes this season.
