Corinthians’ Deliberative Council president Romeu Tuma Júnior says the club’s presidential election on 28 November might not take place, amid political and legal turbulence.
According to Meu Timao, a civil inquiry by São Paulo state prosecutors into possible intervention could derail the vote or its rules.
Tuma said president Osmar Stabile should approach prosecutors to seek an accord and calm the crisis, adding the leadership has a duty to pursue legal solutions.
Prosecutors Luiz Ambra Neto and André Pascoal lead the inquiry, which could bring a public civil action or a conduct adjustment agreement.
Asked who would run Corinthians if the vote were blocked, he said it depends on the court order, noting a general interventor could pause deliberations.
On 18 September, the São Paulo Court of Justice again suspended the General Assembly on statute reform after an appeal by three lifetime councillors, the fourth halt.
Tuma said this backdrop may weigh on prosecutors and defended his tenure as aimed at tighter internal control.
A member has also sued over 2026 rules, challenging candidate fees equal to three family membership payments, slate fees of 25 individual payments, and mandatory facial recognition.
Less than two months out, five pre-candidates are declared: André Castro, Rozallah Santoro, André Negão, Sérgio Janikian and José Augusto Mendes.
