Romeu Tuma Júnior, president of Corinthians’ Conselho Deliberativo, has asked São Paulo’s Public Prosecutor’s Office to investigate club president Osmar Stabile, after a meeting on Monday ended with Tuma’s provisional removal.
According to Meu Timao, Tuma filed a request to assess a formal probe and alleges Stabile led an irregular vote. He says the disciplinary case is at an initial stage, so he has not presented his defence under the Statute.
On Monday he also lodged a judicial interpellation in Tatuapé seeking explanations from Stabile. On nine March, Stabile accused Tuma of threats and coercion at a council meeting due to vote on statute reform, which was then cancelled.
Days later Stabile asked the Ethics and Discipline Commission to suspend Tuma provisionally, a process yet to start. Tuma has separately challenged the impeachment summons, arguing it breaches council rules, and notes the next official meeting is on 27 April to vote on 2025 accounts.
Council leaders, including vice-president Leonardo Pantaleão, cite Article 82, item II, and the Justice Commission warned of court intervention. Pantaleão says he will not attend and alleges pressure to chair the session.
A group of members also took the alleged irregularities to prosecutor Cássio Conserino at MP-SP. The complaint was sent to the Promotoria de Justiça do Patrimônio Público e Social, which is running a civil inquiry into possible judicial intervention. The dispatch said the case could relate to probes into suspected misuse of corporate cards, cash advances and invoice inconsistencies, and urged tighter governance.
