Ron Gourlay says Justin De Haas is a top player

Ron Gourlay has confirmed Valencia’s first signing for next season, naming Dutch centre-back Justin De Haas from Famalicao and describing him as a top player.

According to Superdeporte, the football CEO said the move reflects the club’s approach and forms part of a plan, a transition he said is backed by the president.

Gourlay added that he believes De Haas, like the recent arrivals in the last window, will improve the team.

He also said another deal is close, for Mali international Aliou Dieng, who would arrive from the Egyptian league on a free transfer.

Those would be the first two additions of the next window, the third of the four Gourlay asked for to return the team to the European elite, a phrase used in the announcement of his appointment.
