Ron Gourlay is launching his second Valencia project with continuity and firm backing for Carlos Corberán. According to AS, it is supported by a budget aligned with the club’s push for Europe next season.
Valencia appointed him CEO of Football on 29 May 2025 under president Kiat Lim, unveiling the structure in Singapore.
Gourlay sees the LaLiga season starting in August as a return to the European fight. He asked for four transfer windows to shape the squad, the fourth comes in January.
Corberán’s squad still needs assembling. Nine players are out of contract on 30 June, Ramazani, Renzo, Guido, Agirrezabala, Unai, Beltrán, Dimitrievski, Cömert and Thierry, with only Dimitrievski close to staying. That is 36% of the group registered at season’s end, so the target may sound optimistic given recent history.
Inside Mestalla the message is to restore long-lost ambition across the club. The Lim family are authorising a rise in squad cost without excess or cuts, aiming to open the 70,000-seat Nou Mestalla with midweek European football.
Javi Guerra is not for sale and has been told to keep his end-of-season mindset. Valencia will fight to keep Guido Rodríguez, and De Haas and Dieng are due in July.
Gourlay and Corberán remain in talks over recruitment. The CEO of Football, working with Lisandro Isei, wants further additions by the first day of pre-season on six July, plus progress on exits for those not in the plans.
