L’Équipe report today that French full-back Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel is set for a return to Ligue 1, as he prepares to join Nantes on a free transfer after his medical next Monday.
The 25-year-old will become Les Canaris’ second signing of the summer, with Senegal youth international midfielder Lamine Diack’s arrival from Ankaragücü set to be confirmed as well.
The former French youth international will sign a three-year deal with the club, who avoided relegation last season by the skin of their teeth with a final-day win over Angers.
Formerly of Saint-Étienne and Monaco, Pierre-Gabriel left Mainz at the end of his contract earlier this summer. He would only spend one full season with the Bundesliga side he joined four years ago, having then gone on successive loan spells at Brest, Strasbourg and then Espanyol. He notably spent two seasons with the Bretons, and made 59 appearances across two league seasons
