Ronaldinho Gaúcho has returned to professional football at 46, unveiled by Italian third-division side Ravenna and targeting a landmark 300th career goal.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the former Flamengo and Fluminense playmaker has joined as a shareholder too, 11 years after his last professional match for Fluminense in 2015.
A debut date has not been set. Ronaldinho said any appearance will be decided by head coach Andrea Mandorlini and the technical staff, adding that he feels fit.
He sits on 299 career goals, 28 of them for Flamengo, and hopes to reach 300. He could wear the No 10 shirt again for the club.
The move also carries personal meaning through his friendship with Ignazio Cipriani, a director linked to the project. His arrival has stirred the fanbase and increased international attention on the team.
He is not expected to feature in the season’s first official fixture against Reggiana (ITA). Attention turns to a later opportunity, subject to the staff’s call.
Signed by Flamengo in 2011, he won that year’s Campeonato Carioca, then left the following season due to delayed salary payments. He played 72 matches, scoring 28 goals and supplying 17 assists in under two years.
