Reports in Portugal claim Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Al Nassr in June, with a €50 million release clause included in his contract.

Ronaldo’s future in Saudi Arabia under question

Portuguese media reports have raised fresh doubts about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Al Nassr, with claims that the veteran forward is unhappy and could consider leaving the club in June.

According to Record, Ronaldo has grown frustrated in Riyadh especially after the winter transfer window closed without major reinforcements for Al Nassr.

The report also revealed that the striker’s contract includes a huge release clause worth €50 million allowing him to exit under certain conditions.

Absence against Al Riyadh sparks debate

Ronaldo was left out of Al Nassr’s matchday squad for the 1-0 win over Al Riyadh in the Saudi Pro League.

His absence came as news emerged that rivals Al Hilal completed surprise deal to sign Karim Benzema adding more pressure in the title race.

Reports suggest Ronaldo was upset by what he sees as unequal support in the transfer market, with greater backing being directed toward Hilal.

Al Nassr meanwhile only made limited moves bringing in Iraqi midfielder Haider Abdul Karim and striker Abdullah Al Hamdan after his contract termination.

Al Nassr still close in the title race

Despite the tension, Al Nassr remain strongly placed in the league standings.

They sit second, just one point behind Al Hilal and are currently enjoying positive run of results.

Ronaldo has also continued to deliver on the pitch scoring 17 league goal this season keeping him among the top scorers in the competition.

His arrival in late 2022 helped bring major global attention to Saudi football, with league revenues reportedly rising sharply since then.

What comes next?

Ronaldo’s deal with Al Nassr runs until 2027 but the reported release clause means summer departure is possible if the situation escalates.

Several options have been mentioned including move to another Saudi club, a switch to MLS or even return to Europe though wages remain key factor.
