The press conference with Liam Rosenior yesterday had quite a bit of information on injured players, with the two main concerns right now being Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens.
“Jamie’s back involved, which is great,” Rosenior said.
“Este still a little bit further away. We want to be careful with Este because of the nature of his hamstring injury.
We don’t want it reoccurring at a crucial stage of the season. We’ll see what he’s like for Tuesday’s game against PSG.”
Gittens last played at the end of January against West Ham, while Estevao was last seen against Hull in mid-February.
There was no qualification at all on his words on Gittens’ status, so we can only take that to mean that he’s 100% ready to go. Of course he’s got no match fitness, so will start with some appearances off the bench, but he’s ready to start playing again.
Estevao we can’t really see being thrown into that Champions League as a return to action after a decent spell out, that sounds more like just something thrown in there to give fans a little hope. But you never know… there aren’t many wildcards we’d rather have in our squad for that game.
Rosenior also gave his thoughts on Reece James, who yesterday signed a new long contract with Chelsea.
