Liam Rosenior picked a very strong team for last night’s Premier League game against Leeds, something we all expected.

The manager has an FA Cup game against lower league opposition this weekend, meaning a chance to rotate. Although, when asked in his press conference previewing the game if he would be doing that, he insisted he wouldn’t.

“No [it’s not a chance to rotate], it’s a tough game. This is going to be a difficult game. I want to do well in this competition. I don’t see it any different to a Premier League game or a Champions League game.

“We’re going there with a team that I think will be good enough to win the game. I want to take this game really, really seriously. We’re going to have to because they’re in good form. They’re used to winning games at the moment.”

He can say that all he likes – but in reality, how many of Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez will be starting tomorrow? Will Joao Pedro? We’d not be surprised if we saw none of the four in the starting lineup. Clearly the coach is trying to make sure everyone knows he’s taking this game seriously, but rotation is just a fact of the modern game, and playing your overplayed stars when they have a chance to rest would just be foolish.

In other news…

Rosenior also had important updates on the status of his two injured full backs, who sound like they will both be missing Friday night’s game.

Cole Palmer’s late miss was a shocker – Chelsea could have had the three points they deserved had he put it away. But as you’d expect, Liam Rosenior was hardly going to lay into his star attacker, who had more than done his part in the game.
