Liam Rosenior was “delighted” with his Chelsea team’s performance in their 4-0 win over Hull City, but singled out Pedro Neto for praise.
The Portuguese winger netted his first career hat-trick at the MKM Stadium on Friday night, while Estevao Willian also grabbed a goal to send the Blues through to the fifth round.
“I was delighted with the players’ application and attitude in the first half,” Rosenior told BBC Sport after the full-time whistle.
“It was a difficult game. We’ve had some good 90 minutes. Obviously, you want every minute of every game to be perfect. There is a lot of things we can improve, but in terms of our start together, I am delighted with it.
“The most pleasing aspect was the mentality. They were a credit to the club. It was a really strong performance in terms of the mental application you need to be successful.”
Neto had been on a terrible finishing run of late, failing to score in his previous eight appearances in all competitions, but he is now on 10 goals for the season.
“Pedro Neto has been outstanding,” Rosenior added. “He works so hard and he has so much quality. I am delighted to see him get the goals he got. Everyone worked really, really hard for each other.”
Speaking to TNT Sports, Chelsea centre-forward Liam Delap said of his teammate: “Pedro Neto is an incredible player. He is playing in a position he is not even used to but he showed his quality.”
The west London outfit will discover their opponents in the fifth round after Monday night’s draw.
