For yesterday’s game against Liam Rosenior made a lot of changes to the team that beat Napoli in midweek, and it almost cost him.
Seven changes to the starting XI were soon undone however. Jamie Gittens went off injured in the first half, and with the Blues then 2-0 down, Rosenior hauled off 3 players at half time. That changed everything, and 45 minutes later his team won it.
But the manager tried to ensure that Benoit Badiashile, Jorrel Hato and Alejandro Garnacho weren’t given the blame.

“No, I think, being honest, I thought individually, collectively, our first-half performance was nowhere near the level that it needed to be and should be,” the manager admitted frankly.
“The individuals came off and then people will look at them. That wasn’t on them. It was a collective. There was a collective poor performance in the first half. Those players know with me, I make early changes. It doesn’t mean that all of a sudden they’re out of my thoughts at all. It was just a really lethargic performance in the first half, but the second half was everything I wanted to see.”
For the second time in a week it felt like the manager got his starting team wrong – but his lack of fear in undoing his mistakes is to his credit.
Manager Liam Rosenior could only be pleased after a come back win – but there are of course things he wasn’t happy about as well.
Rosenior also spoke about the awkward half time incident which saw his defender Trevoh Chalobah argue with a fan at Stamford Bridge. It will of course soon be forgotten in the context of what happened in the second period.
