It wasn’t the best of starts to the girone di ritorno for the Rossonere, who lost 1-0 to Como at the PUMA House of Football on matchday 10 – the same score as on opening day. This time, it was Kerr’s first-half goal that decided the day, which came as a result of the only defensice error that the Rossoneri made all game. The match was, overall, largely devoid of excitement and the hosts lacked the guile to take the lead initially and then to equalise.
While they were toothless up top, AC Milan largely defended really well. It was a tight defeat but one that makes life complicated in the standings. The two sides had been level on 13 points ahead of kick-off and the guests, following tonight’s result in this six-pointer, overtook the Rossonere to move into fifth. There’s still a long way to go but AC Milan will need an upturn in form and they need it soon. Up next: Fiorentina away on Sunday 24 November.

MATCH REPORT The game got off to a slow start, with the Rossonere dictating possession. The first chance fell the way of Koivisto (9’) as she received the ball from Renzotti and sent her first-time attempt on goal – Gilardi made the save in two attempts. Como responded with two quickfire chances: first, Nischler’s shot from the edge of the box was turned behind for a corner by Giuliani (14’), then Del Eestal’s effort drew another save from the Rossonere’s number 1. AC Milan pushed again in the 19th minute as Ijeh wriggled free and let fly at the near post, saved by Gilardi. In the 24th minute, Como came close again as Nischler’s free-kick deflected off the wall and whistled just wide. The game was even but, in the 38th minute, the Rossonere had a lapse in concentration at the back: Sorelli’s back pass was underhit, Piga couldn’t get there and Kerr latched onto it and slid it past Giuliani, 1-0. Half-time.
At the start of the second half, AC Milan pushed for the equaliser, while Como sat deep and defended. The Rossoneri struggled, however, to kick up through the gears. Dompig’s effort from distance was well off target (55’). A huge chance fell to Renzotti in the 58th minute as she hit it hard with her left, but the ball went sailing just over the crossbar. The guests looked to hit AC Milan on the break but Kerr’s diagonal effort went narrowly past the far post (66’). The Rossonere upped the ante. Marinelli’s run ended with her effort being saved by Gilardi (72’), then Ijeh failed to hit the net with a left-footed effort five minutes later. Como had a chance to double their lead in the 86th minute but Petzelberger’s volley took a double deflection and went wide. The Rossonere kept at it but to no avail; it ended 1-0.
