The Rossonere's league campaign came to an end with a 1-0 defeat. In Narni, home of Ternana Women, a 92nd-minute goal from Lázaro sealed the outcome at the death. And so, Bakker's side bring their 2025/26 season to a close, having taken to the pitch this afternoon for the final chapter of the campaign. There were points and league positions still at stake, but no longer any real objectives to chase, with AC Milan already mathematically out of contention for a Champions League qualification place before kick-off. Without a major incentive, the overall performance lacked sharpness, although goalkeeper Estévez was the standout performer. A series of saves kept the Rossonere in the match, with only the late setback in stoppage time beating the keeper.
Serie A Women 2025/26 saw Roma crowned champions, while Inter and Juventus finished behind them to secure European qualification. At the other end of the table, Genoa were relegated. AC Milan's campaign ended with 32 points from 22 matches, nine wins, 31 goals scored and 26 conceded, placing the Rossonere in sixth place (pending the completion of the weekend’s fixtures). Over recent months there have been plenty of talking points – both positive and less so - to analyse ahead of planning for next season. One recent trend that stands out has been the limited number of goals scored. So, it promises to be an important summer before the team begin again with renewed ambition and determination.

MATCH REPORT Ternana made the brighter start, despite the first - harmless - attacking moment falling to Grimshaw. In the 4th minute, Porcarelli tested Estévez, who reacted well to parry clear. Two minutes later, Breitner delivered a free-kick and Regazzoli, unmarked in the area, sent her effort over the bar. At the 11-minute mark, Renzotti squandered a huge opportunity, an awkward bounce preventing her from applying the finishing touch into an open goal after a delivery from Kyvåg. Five minutes later, Ciccotti went close as the game continued at an open, lively pace. In the 29th minute, Porcarelli led a counterattack and tried her luck, but Estévez gathered comfortably. Just as the match appeared to be losing momentum, the Rossonere goalkeeper produced a vital intervention in first-half stoppage time to prevent the opener: Petrara attempted an audacious lob from distance, but Estévez sprang across to tip the ball onto the crossbar, before Sorelli completed the clearance.
The second half began with Estévez again taking centre stage. In the 47th minute, she denied Gomes before rushing out moments later to stop Regazzoli. Shortly afterwards, both Martins and Gomes threatened in quick succession but failed to find the target. The Rossoverdi continued to push forward. On the hour mark, Pastrenge attempted another long-range shot, this time off target. AC Milan struggled to threaten, managing only a tame Keijzer cross in the 68th minute. At the other end, Ciccotti delivered dangerously into the area, but no one could apply the final touch. There was another scare in the 76th minute when Porcarelli, helped by a touch from Estévez, sent her effort narrowly wide. Then, in stoppage time, the breakthrough finally arrived. In the 92nd minute, Pastrenge released Lázaro, who poked beyond Estévez to decide the match. Two minutes later, Pastrenge thought she had doubled the lead, but the goal was ruled out for offside following an FVS review.
