Rozallah Santoro announces bid for Corinthians presidency | OneFootball

Corinthians have a further pre-candidate, as Rozallah Santoro, a current club councillor and former finance director, announced his bid on Wednesday night via social media.

According to Meu Timao, he will prioritise a detailed, costed plan over transfer promises or talk of trophies, adding that some decisions could be difficult. The club elects its next president on 28 November, a Saturday.

Santoro is a finance executive and an engineer trained at the University of São Paulo, and previously served as Corinthians’ finance director. He has also built a career in financial markets and investments and was part of the group that backed Augusto Melo in 2023.

He took the finance role at the start of Melo’s tenure in January 2024, leaving in June amid deepening political crises and the VaideBet contract row. He said his exit followed a loss of autonomy and a refusal to assume responsibility for decisions he did not take part in.

Relations with the now-removed president worsened afterwards, with Melo blaming him for the debt owed to the Paraguayan Matías Rojas and even seeking his expulsion. In 2024, Santoro highlighted an estimated R$ 2.1 billion club debt and urged cost cuts and long-term planning.

In August this year he left Chapa 82, citing political divergences as many allies signalled support for Sérgio Janikian, and he will run on a new slate led by himself. So far four figures have declared intentions to stand, including councillors Sérgio Janikian and José Augusto Mendes, and André Negão.
