Since yesterday, former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has emerged as the favourite to take over at Serie A side Milan.

Oliver Glasner was initially well in the frame. Soon, Matthias Jaissle was also in the picture but it is the Portuguese who is likely to manage the Rossoneri next season.

Calciomercato take a detailed look at how the deal is being engineered.

Milan majority shareholder Gerry Cardinale has offered Amorim an initial two-year deal with the option of a third and that can depend on European qualification. Amorim is inclined to accept as it is a big chance at returning to the game.

This comes after live meetings took place between Amorim’s agent and Cardinale this week. Amidst all this, Jorge Mendes has proved crucial.

He isn’t directly associated with Amorim but is active on the intermediary side. Other intermediaries are pushing Amorim and Mendes closer too, as the super agent can hand some transfer guarantees to Milan as well.

There is a chance Milan have spoken to him to iron out the details of a move. He has been key to several incomings in the last few years and can influence the market again.
