Ruben Amorim has provided an update on Matthijs de Ligt after the defender missed Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last night.
The 26-year-old was ruled out of the West Ham United clash due to a minor injury, but he was expected to return to the team for Monday’s game against Wolves.
However, De Ligt was absent, and manager Ruben Amorim said he has no idea when he will return.
Ayden Heaven has been starting in the middle of the back three in De Ligt’s absence.
The 19-year-old had a nervy game against West Ham, but he produced an excellent display against Wolves.
Heaven won all his duels and completed all of his passes. The teenager is expected to retain his place in the team when United welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford next Monday.
Amorim’s side bounced back emphatically against Wolves after drawing with West Ham last week.
Captain Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in the 25th minute before the hosts hit back through Jean-Ricner Bellegarde on the stroke of half-time.
But the Red Devils completely dominated proceedings in the second half to secure a comfortable victory.
United have climbed up to sixth in the Premier League standings with 25 points from 15 matches.
